Salmon is considered healthy, since it provides proteins, vitamins, minerals and unsaturated fats such as omega-3, which help in maintenance of cardiovascular health. However, salmon have potentially unhealthy levels of pollutants and metals, such as arsenic, polychlorinated biphenyls and mercury, which is a neurotoxin that can pass through the placenta and affect fetal development.
