Loris Baz remains in the Superbike World Championship this year, staying with the Bonovo Action BMW for the second consecutive season. Aware of the progress made with the bike, the rider wants to make better results than in 2022, having bigger ambitions.
The Frenchman stressed that winning is always his goal, but admitted that results in the top six would be good enough for the coming season: ‘I always start a season with the expectation of trying to win races and to be on the podium – that’s what I always want and that’s what I train for. The team’s target is to always be in the top ten with both riders, and I think to be in the top five or top six would be good. The level in the championship is getting higher every year. This season, the ‘rookies’ we have in WorldSBK are world champions, there are a lot of factory bikes on the grid. But I know that we made a step forward with the bike and also being with the team for the second consecutive year helps.’
For Baz, only when the competition starts it will be possible to measure the possibilities of Bonovo Action BMW, but, anyway, he stressed that the idea is to improve constantly: ‘When the season starts, we will see what is possible for us. Overall, the main target is to be even better than last year and to make a step forward at every race. The bike has definitely improved and I am confident.’
