Cashews are a rich source of unsaturated fats and a healthier source of fats and proteins than animal-based diets. The fibre content in cashews helps reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, which reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.

There is no proof that cashews help lower cholesterol. And considering that cashews are one of the nuts with the highest carbohydrate content, it is more likely that it will contribute to higher cholesterol levels and high blood sugar levels, which in turn will raise insulin levels and contribute to fat gain. However, small amounts of cashews will not have a significant effect on blood sugar levels if eaten raw.

Yes, cashew do have the ability to help lower cholesterol as they contain a good source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats which help raise high density lipids (HDL) and reduce low density lipids (LDL).
