‘Yamaha brought a lot of new things; we weren’t used to in recent years’ – Fabio Quartararo

Fabio Quartararo failed to renew his MotoGP title last year, being unable to counteract the limitations of Monster Energy Yamaha’s material in the fight against Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati). Encouraged by the work of the Iwata team over the last few months, the rider now hopes to return to winning ways in 2023.

In an interview with Canal+, the frenchman set the goal of playing for the title, although he didn’t make any promises: ‘I can’t make a promise, but the objective is to fight for the championship’.

Optimistic for what he sees as different from the last few seasons, Quartararo still wants to wait for the tests to form solid conclusions about the YZR-M1: ‘The bike looks good, but I prefer to wait for the three days of tests to draw conclusions. I can’t say much more, but in any case I can say that Yamaha really worked very hard. They brought a lot of new things, a lot of pieces to test, and that’s something we weren’t used to in the last three years’.
