Brad Binder joined the official KTM team in 2020 and since then was not the best rider of the Austrians only once, precisely in his rookie year (11th), when he scored 38 points less than Miguel Oliveira (9th).
In 2021 he scored 57 points more – he was sixth in the world – than the Portuguese (14th) and last year the South African was again sixth, with 39 points more than the Portuguese (10th). Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez praised the rider and pointed out that if you regularly do more with the same material it is natural that it is seen as a sign of superior quality. Here is what he said about Binder in statements to PecinoGP:
– Brad Binder is a rider who has done incredible things and who with that bike made the difference to the others. When a rider makes the difference to the others on the same bike, it’s because that rider is very good. There is no doubt about it. It’s like what Marc Márquez did last year with Honda: he made a huge difference compared to all the other Honda riders. From then on you just have to see that Pol Espargaró tried to get close to him a lot of times and he got very far behind. I think that’s very much what makes the difference between the riders.
